Lisa and I spent a week in Paris and had a fantastic time! Lisa was so very patient with me. We’ll start off the Paris photos with a simple one of the tower and the fantastic clouds we had one day.

White Pocket

Snow Against Red Rock || Canon EOS 40D/EF70-200mm f/4L USM +1.4x | 1/125s | f/5.6 | ISO 100 | Handheld

As part of our trip, we camped just outside of White Pocket for two nights, two very cold and windy nights. The second day, it snowed. For a while in the afternoon it had stopped, so I ventured out on the 1/4 mile hike to White Pocket to try and salvage the afternoon by getting a few shots. Not long after I got there, it started again, so I huddled under an overhang and tried to wait it out, this is one of the shots I got while cowering away from the elements.

One of the most fascinating things about White Pocket was the sections of thin rock. I’d love to have had a geologist there to help explain how it all happened. It was difficult to capture this on camera, but some sections looked about as thick as cardboard.

Light Around the Corner

Light Around the Corner || Canon EOS 40D/12-24mm | 1/2s | f/8 | ISO 100 | Tripod

I loved this scene in the canyon, the light was coming through much stronger around the bend, and the wall in the foreground was still in the shadows. It almost feels like if you turn it 90 degrees to the right, it could be an abstract sunset behind the mountain.

Arrowhead || Canon EOS 40D/12-24mm | 1/6 | f/8 | ISO 100 | Tripod

My dad and I have been in Page, AZ for a few days on a field trip put on by the Wasatch Camera Club. This past Thursday, we went through Lower Antelope Canyon and it was fantastic. This is one of the many shots I’ll likely be posting over the next while from my trip to Page, AZ.

After looking at this, I decided to call it Arrowhead, this isn’t an official name that I know of, but it looks like one to me!

Schwabacher’s Landing – Cropped|| Canon EOS 40D/12-24mm | 1/8 | f/11 | ISO 100 | Tripod

A few months ago, I posted a shot at the Teton’s, Schwabacher’s Landing and Heather suggested cropping out the right corner. I had thought about doing it and just got around to it while I was browsing my images. So here it is, and I dolike it a little better this way.

If I am there again, I’d get there earlier and I don’t know that I’d use a graduated neutral density filter since I’m don’t like how the reflection is brighter than the sky.
